NEWS
Who me? Yes, you and you and you ... Thanks to the efforts of parents and other supporters this school year, the Parent Teacher Organization raised money to purchase a 10-unit mobile computer lab for our kids; produced a fun, sold-out musical for the community; and supported teachers with supplies and appreciation lunches. We gave healthy snacks to our kids during MSA testing and sponsored our top-ranked FIRST Lego League and Destination Imagination teams.We still have a few groups that could use a little help next year:
Membership: responsible for collecting forms and keeping track of totals, bulk of the activity comes at the beginning of the school year
Giant and Safeway rewards programs: responsible for registering the school each year and monitoring our accounts
Fundraising: coordinates the fall fundraiser, making sure students get packets and then coordinating their collection and submission of orders to the vendor(s). Bulk of the activity at the packet distribution and collection phases and again when items are delivered
Cultural arts: coordinates the summer reading and spring writing programs. Jackie Phelan, CMS' media specialist, has agreed to help out.
Also, the secretary position is vacant. All paid members may vote or run for an office. For more information, please send a message to either president@croftonmiddle.org or treasurer@croftonmiddle.org.
Time to lace up your sneakers! On Sat., June 2 we'll hold our third annual Trek4Tech Fun Run to help raise funds for technology. You can register online atactive.com or access the registration form throughthis site. We have something new this year--chip timers--so you'll know exactly how you performed.
CMS is also looking for volunteers to help make this as successful as it has been in years past. Volunteers are needed now and day of the event. High school students can donate their time as a course monitor and earn service learning credit! If you are interested in helping, please contact one of the race directors: Nancy Harris atnancydst84@aol.com or Kerri Van Mol at kvanmol@aacps.org. Any help is appreciated.
